Whiting 41 Break Free Rally

The 41 climate activists arrested during

Break Free Midwest 2016

return to Indiana for their final court hearing

Last May, 41 peaceful protesters were arrested at the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana, in coordination with other Break Free actions on six continents. Activists demanded a just transition from fossil fuels to a renewable energy economy. The final hearing in their case is set for Jan. 13, 2017.
Join us on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lake Superior Court in Hammond, Indiana (232 Russell St.) and show the incoming President and Vice-President that we are still committed to breaking free from fossil fuels.
There will be street theater, a band, and a choir (and hot coffee)! At the end of the rally we will deliver a demand to Senator Joe Donnelly’s office demanding that he reject Trump’s climate change-denying nominees.
